Lighthouse spins story of care, spirit at Westfield hospital

Westfield Memorial Hospital Foundation Executive Director, Patricia DiPalma, left, and artist Beth Patri. Patri's creative and imaginative lighthouse design also boasts a rotating light at its top providing light for all who enter Westfield Memorial Hospital's doors.

WESTFIELD — Amid the darkness of civil unrest and the coronavirus pandemic gripping our nation and the world, stands a beautiful lighthouse as a beacon of hope for those who need it most.

Seen in front of Westfield Memorial Hospital, the lighthouse features the initials WMH along with the slogan: “The Little Hospital That Could.”

The lighthouse was artistically interpreted by Artist Beth Patri of Westfield who is also a proud member of the WMH Board of Directors.

Patri’s fun creation represents what we all know and have come to expect from our beloved community treasure and its foundation. Both entities, along with the WMH Auxiliary and Allegheny Health Network strive to continue to provide compassionate care close to home for all those in the Chautauqua region.

On the back of the lighthouse, Patri scripted a note of thanks to the 2020 WMH Associates (listing them by their individual names in alpha order). She also thanked the Emergency Medical Squad responders, all WMH Healthcare Providers, WMH Auxiliary, WMH Foundation, WMH BOD and Allegheny Health Network, reminding us all of the numerous enthusiasts who make the essential healthcare engine run each and every day.
