The State University of New York at Fredonia is in the final stages of appointing a new president.

It is now up to the board of trustees of the college to decide which of the three candidates will be the new president of the Fredonia campus. Members of the SUNY Fredonia College Council are hoping one will be named as soon as this week.

The council met via Zoom last week.

An announcement regarding the president post is later than expected, at least for Dennis Hefner, the interim president. He was hoping to step down this month, but has agreed to stay on until a new president is appointed.

Frank Pagano, council member, thanked Hefner for his continued work as interim president. “Thank you for all your hard work this past year,” Pagano said. “Fredonia will never forget you.”
