Pair sell lemonade for a good cause

Sweet gesture

Gil Capitano and Jayce Parker spent their Wednesday afternoon, in Dunkirk, selling homemade lemonade for a great cause.

Lemonade is simple to make. There are three ingredients: lemons, water, and sugar. Simply stir them all together to make a lovely, refreshing drink.

The young boys’ idea for the lemonade stand is very similar to the lemonade itself, requiring three ingredients.

First, the “water,” which is the stand itself. With some help, Capitano and Parker set out a table and a cooler for ice, cups, the lemonade and a poster reading “Gil’s Fresh Squeezed Fundraiser.”

This is the base of the idea, just like lemonade needs water as a base.

Second, the “lemons,” which is the reason behind the fundraiser. Capitano learned about a family friend’s 3 year-old who tragically fell into a fire while camping. The young child is reportedly stable but has severe burns and needs surgery.

Just like lemons, the situation is sour, but the best ingredient comes next.

Finally comes the “sugar,” the sweetness that came from these young boys, wanting to help a friend in need.

“I know how it feels to have someone you love be burned,” Capitano said. “My grandfather and uncle were burned in a car fire before. … Surgery costs a lot so we wanted to help raise money.”
