Dunkirk classes begin remotely Monday

The Dunkirk City Schools will begin classes remotely on Monday, according to Superintendent Michael Mansfield.

“We will do a full update at our Sept. 15 Board of Education meeting, but all students will return back in full remote session on Sept. 14,” Mansfield said.

The hope of Mansfield and others is to see things begin to change to a hybrid model by Sept. 28, but it all depends on what the parents are requesting and how things progress by the end of the month.

“Right now we are using teacher in-service days so the students will have the same amount of school days even though we are starting later,” Mansfield said. “Some of our high school students will begin picking up materials and technology Thursday.”

As it stands the parent forms the district sent out are at an even split, but there are still about 500 families that the district hasn’t heard from.

The district is looking to be calling those families this week to get those forms back before next week’s meeting.
