Raczka recognized for 40 years of service
Ron Raczka was recognized on Tuesday for his 40 years of service in the town of Dunkirk.
Raczka served as a police officer and a court officer and Judge Christopher Penfold and Judge Robert Hubbard wanted to congratulate and thank him for that service.
“I want to thank you personally for being part of our court and tell you that when I’m on the bench, we don’t worry about anything in the courtroom as far as security goes,” Hubbard said. “It allows us to concentrate on the matters at hand at the bench. Thank you.”
Along with the judges, the Dunkirk Town Board and some family were present to congratulate him. Penfold gifted Raczka with a golden police badge, thanking him for his continued service for the court.
“I know you have 40 years of service to the Town of Dunkirk protecting its citizens and its court employees. Now you also wait in the parking lot after court for the court clerks so they make it to their cars safely. You also are a veteran of the US Coast Guard,” Penfold said.
“I just wanted to thank you for your 40 years of service to the town and the court and to protecting our country.”
The long-standing police officer thanked the judges and the small group that came to support and celebrate with them. He said that now he can change his silver badge to his new fancy gold one.
“Does this mean I can retire now?” Raczka joked. A resounding “no” came from the crowd and the judges. “Thank you so much for this, I really appreciate it.”
