Troop 267 scouting honors revealed

Fredonia’s Scout Troop 267, sponsored by American Legion Post 59 in Fredonia, held a virtual Court of Honor last month.

The Court of Honor ceremony began with Master of Ceremonies, Matthew Brown, Life Scout, leading the Pledge of Allegiance. The Scout Oath and Scout Law were recited and an opening prayer was given by Joseph Bowers, Eagle Scout. Scoutmaster Jim Stenger welcomed the scouts and their families.

Sixty-two merit badges were presented to scouts by their parents during the virtual meeting. Merit badges were earned by TJ Ackley, David Andujar, Calder Annear, Devin Batten, Sam Bowers, Matthew Brown, Charlie Cinque, Alex Cramer, Jackson Gollnitz, Ethan Johnson, Cortland Lehnen, Adam Lukach, Colden Noody, Ryan Proffitt, Riley Smith-Mallon, Jack Spengler, Cooper Stenger, Ledreth Velez-Olmo, Lenieth Velez-Olmo, Isaac Williams and Nathash Kemp.

The merit badges earned were in a variety of subjects including archery, art, camping, citizenship in the community, citizenship in the nation, cooking, crime prevention, cycling, emergency prep, family life, fingerprinting, fire safety, first aid, game design, geocaching, geology, Indian lore, mammal study, music, personal fitness, personal management, safety, scouting feritage, and shotgun shooting. The Interpreter Strip was earned by David Andujar, Ledreth Velez-Olmo and Lenieth Velez-Olmo.

Rank advancements were announced by Scoutmaster Jim Stenger. Three scouts received the rank of Tenderfoot: Charlie Cinque, Alexander Cramer and Adam Lukach. Devin Batten advanced to Second Class Scout. Jackson Gollnitz advanced to First Class Scout. The rank of Life was earned by Samuel Bowers, Cortland Lehnen, Ryan Proffitt, Jack Spengler, Cooper Stenger, and Lenieth Velez-Omo. Eagle rank has been earned by Calder Annear, Riley Smith-Mallon and Jacob Thompson.

Stenger presented service stars to three scouts: Ryan Proffitt, two years; Brandon Kawski, three years; Joseph Bowers, six years. In addition, the troop recognized seven volunteers and presented service stars to Marianne Bowers, one year; Lydia Evans, Evelyn Thompson and Jim Stenger, two years; Brian Noody, three years; Walt Sedlmayer, 18 years; and Chris Eichmann, 38 years. Troop 267 is grateful for their unending support and hours of service they have dedicated on behalf of the troop’s continued success.
