Donor hopes to help with online access

With most schools being forced to work remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s moved classes and educational instruction to online, virtual lessons. While this has worked out well for several families, it has caused problems for others.

Even in 2021, not every family has reliable internet access, which puts students in those families at a severe disadvantage. In Fredonia, there is one family that has stepped up to help.

“We have a community member who indicated that if there are families or students who don’t have access to the internet, this family would very much want to help with payment for that. We encourage anyone who needs assistance with internet access to reach out,” said Fredonia superintendent Dr. Bradley Zilliox at last week’s meeting.

While the family doing so wishes to retain a form of anonymity, any student or family who could use the assistance is free to reach out to the Fredonia school administrators.

“If there is a family or student that does need support, reach out to your building principal and we can make connections between those families and this individual,” Zilliox said. “They are just looking to extend some generosity to the Fredonia community, and we thank everyone in our district for helping and some for going above and beyond.”

Any family in need of assistance can reach out to the elementary, middle school, or high school principals to be put in contact with the family offering assistance.
