Animal control officer resigning

The animal control officer in Dunkirk and Fredonia is leaving the job.

Denise Hodkin Zentz said last week she is resigning from all three jurisdictions she serves — the town of Dunkirk, the city of Dunkirk and the village of Fredonia — effective Dec. 1.

When the Fredonia Board of Trustees accepted her resignation last week, Trustee EvaDawn Bashaw said Zentz was dissolving her business. Zentz confirmed this on Tuesday.

A former Dunkirk and Fredonia police officer, Zentz was only hired as Fredonia’s animal control officer in August.
