Area Lions Club helps youth at holidays

The Dunkirk Fredonia Lions Club recently welcomed representatives and board members from Kids at Promise to their monthly meeting to learn about the Kids at Promise youth development program and their goal of helping support the youth of our local community. The program is currently housed at 324 Townsend St., Dunkirk.

The Dunkirk Fredonia Lions club members then stuffed and presented more than 50 Christmas goodie bags for the children who attend the Kids at Promise program.

The bags contained candy, games, treats, socks, activity books and pencils, a Christmas card, and more. In addition, the group was presented a big pile of new winter coats, several more dozens of socks, and multiple hats, mittens and scarves.

President Judith Cole stated, “The Lions Club motto is: We Serve. It is never more rewarding than to serve children at Christmastime. We trust that these bags will brighten the children’s day and the clothing will help those who are needing some extra warmth this year.”

The club is looking forward to further partnering with the Kids at Promise program in the future.

The Dunkirk Fredonia Lions Club is always open to prospective members with a heart for community service.
