Crandall set to retire from Silver Creek

SILVER CREEK — The Silver Creek Central School District will have a new leader by next school year.

Superintendent Todd Crandall revealed his intention to retire at the end of this school year at a recent Board of Education meeting.

“I appreciate all the time we’ve had together,” Crandall said at a recent Board of Education meeting. “It’s time to spend a little more time with my family. It certainly has nothing to do with the board, or the community, or the students. It has been my honor. It’s just time to write the next chapter in the book.”

In a letter to parents and guardians in the district, Crandall cited a desire to be more active with his church, volunteering, traveling with his wife, and spending time with his grandchildren.

“In my work throughout our region, I consistently hear excellent things about Silver Creek Schools and this community,” Crandall said in a letter to parents and guardians in the district. “I am most proud that we have all learned and grown together establishing a growth mindset of continual improvement for the benefit of our student body.”

February marks Crandall’s eighth year of service to the district as superintendent. He has been an educator in Chautauqua County for over 32 years.

“The board had asked that I give six months’ notice, so there will not be an interim (superintendent),” Crandall said.

The district will conduct a search for a new superintendent immediately, with the intention of hiring a replacement to begin on July 1. The board approved a search consultant agreement with BOCES to assist with the search. A “Superintendent Search” tab will be added to the district website to provide updates to the community throughout the search process.

“Please know, I will finish this school year as though I am returning for the 2023-2024 school year so that everything will be in place and set for the next superintendent,” Crandall said.

“The relationships that I have formed with all of you and your children will be what I miss most,” Crandall added in the letter announcing his retirement. “I will always be a Black Knight!”
