UPDATE: Power restored to most of Jamestown area
The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities said a problem with circuits tripping at its Dow Street substation caused a widespread electric outage Thursday from 8:53 a.m. to 9:19 a.m.
Portions of Jamestown, Ellicott, West Ellicott, Celoron and Falconer were impacted.
“Supervisors immediately isolated the trouble and were able to restore power in approximately a half hour,” the BPU said in a statement.
As a result of the power outage, water pumps turned off, stirring the water. Discolored water can be expected to clear in 12 to 24 hours, the BPU said.
