Pelletter detailed the territories pertaining to the soon-to-be-formed fire district incorporating the Sunset Bay and Silver Creek fire departments in an official resolution on the diminution of the Town of Hanover Fire Protection District, which was adopted by the Town Board.
The soon-to-be-formed Town of Hanover Fire Protection District will encompass the current Fire Protection District, which covers all residents outside of the Silver Creek, Forestville, and Irving fire districts, along with the village of Silver Creek, Sunset Bay, Hanford Bay, and a portion of the State Thruway.
The District will cover from the centerline of where King Road intersects with the border of the town of Sheridan and the town of Hanover lines, continuing north until the line reaches Lake Erie. The boundary also runs east along the town line until it hits the boundary of the hamlet of Irving, then runs southeast until it intersects with King Road. The boundary runs along the centerline of King Road to the beginning point. The territory of the Irving Fire District along the State Thruway is not included. A copy of the proposed area lines will be available to the public at the Town Clerk’s Office and on the town’s website.
The diminution of the Town of Hanover Fire Protection District shall not take effect until the Joint Fire District is established, which is estimated to occur around June 30. The Hanover Town Board expressed optimism that the entire process will be completed by the end of the year.
