EMT of year named by legion

On June 14, the American Legion awarded Lisa Babcock as EMT of the year for Chautauqua County. Babcock is an EMT and the 1st Assistant Chief for the Ripley Fire District. She is the first female assistant chief at Ripley and a role model for females in the fire service. She demonstrates a strong commitment to community service, both on and off duty. She exemplifies professionalism, dedication, and excellence in her role as EMT. She has answered more than 900 EMS calls over the past five years. She is an American Heart Association CPR instructor, is a member of the Chautauqua County EMS Council, the Chautauqua County Fire Advisory Board, and the Chautauqua County Tech Rescue Team. Babcock has certified more than 250 people in CPR for free, including Girls Scouts, our Veterans, and fellow firefighters. She has organized and implemented the Junior Firefighter program at Ripley. She was nominated by the American Legion Post 327 and Tracy Curtis.
