Edith Myrtle Morrison

SOUTH DAYTON – Edith Myrtle Morrison, 93, of the Chautauqua County Home in Dunkirk, formerly of South Dayton and Forestville, passed away Sunday (August 17, 2014) in Brooks Memorial Hospital, Dunkirk.

She was born December 19, 1920 in New Albion, NY, the daughter of the late Floyd Carl and Dorthea Klein.

Edith attended Randolph Central School and at the time of her retirement, had worked as a Site Manager for the Cattaraugus County Department of Aging.

She was a member of the South Dayton Free Methodist Church and Council for the Department of the Aging. She was an avid reader, flower gardener and enjoyed watching television and spending time with the patrons at the Cattaraugus County Department of the Aging and as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy L. Fancher and husband Gerald of Forestville, and Judy Houben of Youngsville, Pa.; a sister, Lorena Perkins of Salamanca; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Leslie Morrison, whom she married on April 26, 1946 and whom preceded her on November 22, 1969; four sisters, Cecelia Brown, Viola Osterman, Lillian Gross and Nora Conway; two half-siblings, Harold and Genevieve.

The family will be received 12 to 2 p.m. Thurs-day (August 21, 2014) in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St. in Randolph, from where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Pastor Matthew Wittenbrook will officiate. Burial will be in the Rutledge Cemetery, Conewango Valley, NY. A luncheon will follow at the South Dayton Free Methodist Church. She was the widow of Erwin Morrison and was a retired Site Manager for the Cattaraugus County Department of the Aging.
