Bert E. Bullock

Bert E. Bullock, 92, of Dunkirk, died Saturday morning (Dec. 31, 2016) at Brooks Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. He was born Jan. 9, 1924 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Bernard and Iva (Carpenter) Bullock. A lifelong area resident, Mr. Bullock served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had been employed as an operating engineer at Al Tech Specialty Steel Corp., retiring after more than 40

years of service. Bert was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church and a member of the Dunkirk-Fredonia Lion’s Club, where he had

served as president. He also was a life member of the Fredonia Exempt Firemen Association and a member of the American Legion Post No. 59 in Fredonia. He enjoyed spending time with his dog Charlie.  Survivors include his wife, Carol M. (Golem) Bullock, whom he married April 2, 2006; one daughter, Betty McKinney of Lakewood; one sister, Marian Scott of Phoenix, AZ; stepson, Mark Ruch of Bradenton, Fla.; two grand-sons, Aaron and Galen McKinney; two great granddaughters, Ellen and Clara McKinney; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Bette L. Bullock; his second wife, Elizabeth H. Bullock; two broth-ers, Arthur Bullock and Robert Bullock; and one sister, Betty Moffet. Graveside services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock in Willowbrook Park Cemetery. The Rev. Dennis G. Riter will officiate. There will be no prior visitation. Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
