Scott G. Bennett

Scott G. Bennett, of Fredonia, New York, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by his children and family. Born July 11, 1965, he was 51 years old. He was the loving father of three children, Erin, Glenn and Leah.

Scott was the president of a new venture, Hops and Hounds Brewing Company, Inc., a craft brewery in Fredonia, New York, set to open this spring. He was a member of Northern Chautauqua Home Brewers.

He loved music and played guitar and djembe drums. His favorite artists were The Grateful Dead and Eric Clapton. Scott was very active in the Blue Heron Music Festival in Sherman, New York. He managed the Teen Tent for many years as a volunteer crew chief.

Legally blind his entire life, Scott was able to give the gift of sight with a cornea transplant through Up-state New York Transplant Services. His wish was to donate his body to medical science for cancer research and ocular diseases.

In addition to his children, Scott is survived by his mother, Rita Bennett of Brocton, NY; brothers Bradley (Becky) Bennett of Harborcreek, PA; Chad (Marylyn) Bennett, Med-way, MA; a sister Karen (Mark) Campbell of Clermont, FL; his close friend Jennifer Smith in North Carolina; as well as many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Scott was predeceased by his father, Larry Bennett of Portland, NY; his maternal grandparents, Harvey and Lorraine Lanphere; and his paternal grandparents, Glenn and Carolyn Ben-nett, Portland, NY.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 18 at 11 a.m. followed by a noon memorial service at Fellow-ship Church, 148 West Main Street, Brocton, NY.
