Carl R. Sternisha
GOWANDA — Carl R. Sternisha, 67, of Gowanda, NY, passed away March 28, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, NY.
He was born September 28, 1950 in Gowanda, NY the son of the late Joseph and Gloria (Marlewski) Sternisha.
Mr. Sternisha was a Vietnam veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for the Village of Gowanda Water Department for 38 years, retiring as Water Superintendent.
On August 22, 1987, he married the former Catherine Schultz, who survives.
He was a Life member of the American Legion Post No. 409 and VFW Post No. 5007 and was on their Color Guard. He also was a Lifetime member of the Slovenian Club and a Past member of the Phoenix Lodge in Gowanda.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son Alex Sternisha of Gowanda, NY and three daughters Heather (Kris) Neuhalfen of Edmond, OK, Amy (Juan) Gonzalez of San Antonio, TX and Emily Sternisha of Gowanda, NY and two grandchildren Isabel and Reid Neuhalfen. Also surviving is a brother Paul (Karleen) Sternisha of Tennessee and a sister Mary Jeanne (Randy) Ramsdell of South Bend, IN. and several nieces and nephews
Friends may call at the Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 105 East Main Street, in Gowanda, NY, on Monday, April 2, 2018 from 4-7 p.m.
Funeral services with Military Honors, from the funeral home, will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Joseph Porpigia, officiating.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Memorials may be made ton the Slovenian Club.
