Nancy C. Ahlstrom

Nancy C. Ahlstrom of Dunkirk, N.Y. passed away peacefully at her winter home in Stuart Florida on Monday April 16, 2018 at the age of 88.

Born Nancy Crawford on March 1, 1930 in Dunkirk, N.Y, she was the mother of 8 children and the wife of her beloved deceased husband Kenneth, whom she was married for 63 years.

Nancy devoted her life to caring for and raising her family. Nancy was involved in the lives of her children and and the community through active participation in school PTA, garden club, the D&F Follies and was an early member of the Dunkirk Sports Booster Club.

A life long Buffalo Bills fan, Bills Booster Club member and Bills season ticket holder for over 30 years, Nancy was able to travel and attend several Super Bowls with her beloved Kenny.

Nancy worked outside the home as well and was employed over the years at JC Penney and several other retail businesses in the Dunkirk Fredonia area.

Nancy was an avid reader and master bread baker, right up to her final days. She enjoyed gardening and was an accomplished seam-stress.

Nancy was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Dunkirk and a member of the American Legion Post 62 Auxiliary.

Survivors include her 8 children Kathleen (Joseph) Piede of Fredonia, Kenneth C. Jr (Kathie) Ahlstrom, Keith (Cynthia) Ahlstrom, Kevin (Carol) Ahlstrom and Kirk (Amy) Ahlstrom all of Dunkirk, Kim Shrum of Palm City Fla., Kyle Ahlstrom of Dunkirk and Kris (Andrea) Ahlstrom of Bedford, N.H., 17 grand children, Tom and Luke Piede, Nathan Ahlstrom and Sarah Lytle, Kory and Benjamin Ahlstrom, Megan and Nicholas Ahlstrom, Timothy Worosz and Cody Ahlstrom, Kelly, Andrew and Paige Shrum, Evan Ahlstrom, Elijah, Oskar and Miles Ahlstrom; and eleven great-grandchildren, Lily, Sofiya, Nick, Joseph, Ava, Olivia, Peyton, Alex, Emma, Cora and Harrison. She is also survived by two brothers, James and Robert Crawford. She was predeceased by brother Donald Crawford and son in law Jeff Shrum.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 24, at 10 a.m. in the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. The Rev. Molly Golando will officiate. Calling hours will be held on Monday April 23 from 2-4 and 7-9PM at the funeral home.
