Donald Lewandowski

Donald A. Lewandowski, 84, formerly of Dunkirk, passed away Monday evening May 21, 2018 in Kokomo, Indiana. He was born

in Dunkirk on February 19, 1934 to the late Leo and Dorothy Domst Lewandowski. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1953 to 1957. He was a machinist with Delco Electronics until his retirement in 1998. Before moving to Kokomo in 1986, he worked for Al Tech and True Temper Corp. in Dunkirk.Donald was a member of the U.A.W No. 292, the First Ward Falcons Club, and a former member of the Daniel Anson Hose Co. No. 3. He enjoyed woodworking and making various items for his family, reading and watching Westerns, and in his younger days, playing golf.He is survived by his wife of 60 years, the former Barbara Ann Slawinski, whom he married on April 12, 1958 in St. Hyacinth’s Church. One son, David (Deborah) Lewandowski of Greenville, South Carolina, three daughters: Donna (Paul) Norris, Ann Clabough,and Suzanne (Brian) Hubbard all of Kokoma, Indinana, and a sister Leona Damian of Fredonia. He is further survived by three grandsons, six granddaughters,one great-grandson, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Leo and Dorothy Lewandowski, his brother Richard Lewandowski, his sister Bernadette Sikora, and granddaughter Kristen Lewandowski.Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 9:15 from the Newman Funeral Home, Inc. and at 10 o’clock at Blessed Mary Angela Roman Catholic Parish – St. Hyacinth’s Church with the Rev. Jan Trela officiating. Internment will follow in St. Hyacinth’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 to 8.
