James J. Ross

He was born in Dunkirk, to Julian and Arlene (Jopek) Ross of Dunkirk.

Jim married the love of his life, Carolyn (Vicari) Ross, on November 24, 1984. They were married for 33 years, and those that knew them envied their love story.

Jim was a nature enthusiast who enjoyed spending time outdoors and went on many long bike rides and hikes. He was an avid do-it-yourselfer, and loved sharing knowledge and experience with those that were in his life. Ferociously dedicated to his family, his wife and daughters referred to him as “Superman”. Jim was the kind of person who would do anything for anyone, and genuinely cared about doing the right thing in every situation.

Jim is survived in addition to his wife and parents by his two daughters Pamela S. Ross of Seattle, WA., and Jennifer L. Ross of Raleigh, NC., two sisters Donna (Chuck) Howlett of Dunkirk and Julie (Denny) Wakelee of Cassadaga, mother in law Joan Vicari of Dunkirk, brother in law Tony (Charlene) Vicari of Denver, CO, along with several cousins, nieces, nephews, and two grand puppies Saydi and Jax.

Preceded in death by an infant brother Ronald Ross and his father in law Norm Vicari.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call Friday morning from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty Street in Dunkirk. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish Church of St. Hyacinth. Interment will be in St. Hyacinth’s Cemetery.
