Nathaniel (Nate) J. Gavin

Nathaniel J. (Nate) Gavin, 13, of Dunkirk, New York died suddenly, May 24, 2018 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Nathaniel was born August 18, 2004 to Paul and Susan Gavin in Niskayuna, New York.

Nathaniel completed his 7th grade year at Lux Middle school in Lincoln, Nebraska and was confirmed on March 16, 2018 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Lincoln. Nate participated in bowling and track and field with Special Olympics through the Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department.

Nathaniel spent most of his childhood in Dunkirk, New York. He played T-ball for several years through Dunkirk Little League. Nate also participated in Special Olympics annually at SUNY Fredonia. He was the :Manager: of the Dunkirk Midget League Football Team through the TIES Program and took therapeutic horseback riding lessons at Centaur Stride in Westfield, New York. Nate attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dunkirk. He belonged to God’s Family Religion Class in Lackawanna, New York and made his First Holy Communion at Our Lady of Victory Basillica there. Nate also played baseball with Miracle League in Grand Island, NY.

Preceded in death by his grandfather, Anthony Martoccia; uncle, Peter Gavin.

Survived by his parents; sister, Jayne; grandparents, Jerome (Natalie) Gavin, Carol Martoccia.

There will be a Catholic Funeral Service on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dunkirk. Interment to follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Miles for Matty.org.
