Josefine Lawson

Josefine R. Lawson, 92, formerly of Bowers Road, Stockton, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Chautauqua Nursing and Rehab Center. Born February 4, 1926 in Augsburg, Germany a daughter of the late Jakob and Berta Wittauchek Gsantner and had attended German schools. She came to the USA in 1948 and proudly became a citzen in 1953.Josefine was employed from 1949-1967 at Round and Son Basket Factory, Phillips Company for 12 years and Lutheran Social Services for 12 years retiring in March of 1988.She formerly attended the former Cassadaga Baptist Church, Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church and was a member of the Cassadaga Stockton Lily Dale Senior Citizens.Wife of 62 years to the late Hershel F. Lawson, who she married October 2, 1946 and died Jan. 6, 2009; mother of, Karl H. (Sally) Lawson of Cassadaga and the late Sharon R. Lawson, July 31, 2008; grandmother of, Matthew (Jennifer) Lawson of Houston and the late Jakob Lawson, Oct. 31, 2017; great-grandmother of, Brock Lawson of Katy, TX; sister of, Maria Badzin-ski of VA and the late Zenta Exenberger, Agathe Montrynczuk, Bertha Frey, Fanny Jakubiak and Jakob Gsantner. Also survived by nieces and nephews.As per Josefine’s wishes, no services will be held. Private burial in Christian Meeting House Cemetery, Arkwright. Memorials to: Chautauqua County Human Society or the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church.
