Audrey June (Sankey) Craig

Audrey June (Sankey) Craig, 90, died peacefully at the Lutheran Home and

Rehabilitation Center on June 28, 2018. June was born in Stumptown, PA on June 21, 1928, the daughter of Elmer and Mary Ann Sankey. She married Patrick “Pat” Craig in 1948 and they lived in Chicago for their first two years of marriage. Briefly returning to Pennsylvania after Pat finished his training at Coyne Electrical

School in Chicago, they moved to the Jamestown area in 1951. Early in her marriage she was a full time homemaker and cared for her growing children. Later, June

worked for Lerner’s, a women’s apparel shop in downtown Jamestown, and the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation center, as an activities coordinator. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jamestown. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, and

attending holiday and other family events. Christmas was her favorite holiday

and she enjoyed baking cookies, buying gifts, and decorating her home. She

was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills.In addition to her parents, her husband of 28 years predeceased her on November 19, 1976. She is preceded in death by all of her nine older siblings: Isabel, Mable, Thomas, Joseph, William, Ida, Anna Mary, Robert, and Barbara.She is survived by her two children: Linda E. Smagner of Dunkirk and James P. Craig of Lakewood; four grandchildren: Dr. John P. Smagner (Dr. Marc Van Overbeke) of Chicago, IL, Mark Smagner of Charlotte, NC, Jessica Smagner (Jared Vestal) of New York, NY, and Aviation Ordinance 2nd Class (AW) Abbie (Chief Machinist Mate Nuclear (SW) Robert) Chambers of Portsmouth, VA; two great grandchildren: Quentin Smagner and Patrick Chambers; and numerous nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. in Christ Chapel at the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center on August 4, 2018. Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt, chaplain, will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Umbria Cemetery in Osceo-

la Mills, PA at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received on August 3 from 6-8 p.m. at the Lind Funeral Home, 805 W. 3rd Street, Jamestown, NY 14701.
