Leonard Joseph Coniglio

Leonard Joseph “Rabbit” Coniglio, 96, of Fredonia died Sunday morning (Aug. 5, 2018) at home.

He was born April 26, 1922 in Fredonia, the son of the late Charles J. and Lucy (LaTona) Coniglio. A U.S. Navy veteran, Rabbit was extremely proud to have served our country in the Pacific during World War II as 2nd class radar man.

A lifelong Fredonia resident, he had been employed at Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Fredonia Beaver Club, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #89, and the American Legion Post 59.

He enjoyed hunting with his son yearly. He truly enjoyed trips to the area casinos as well. Rabbit could never pass up a good household sale or auction! His pride and joy was family time with his children, granddaughters, and great grandchildren. He is now reunited with his beloved wife of 64 years and daughter Linda.

Survivors include one son, Leonard S. (Roberta) Coniglio of Fredonia; two daughters, Bonnie (Joseph) Blechl of Dunkirk and Diane Franklin of Bemus Point; four granddaughters, Jamie Coniglio, Kelly (Andrew) Martin, Danielle (Kevin) Sculley, and Ashley (Fiance JJ Megat) Franklin; two great grandchildren, Lucy Martin and Ryan Sculley; and twin Sculley babies due in Sept.; two sisters, Lucille Solazzo of Fredonia and Anita (Joseph) Ricotta of Dunkirk; and several nieces and nephews.
