Adeline E. “Peggy” Ballew

She married Owen (Whitey) H. Ballew Sr. on July 10, 1951 and they were married for 43 years. She had four children Janet, Betty, Owen, and Pam. She also had two step daughters from Whitey’s first marriage, Anne Smith of Deland, FL and Caroll Wester of Oil City, PA.

Peg had been living with her youngest daughter, Pam, in Buckatunna, MS since 2014, due to her age. She enjoyed being outdoors, where she could sit on the porch and watch the birds and farm animals. Her real passion was reading “westerns”, and she could be found reading them at all hours of the day.

She especially loved her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the center point of her life. Even though she was many miles away from her “home” and the rest of her family, she stayed in close contact with everyone. Even during her last years and days, her unique personality could be experienced by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her.

She was predeceased by her husband, Whitey Ballew, her son-in-law, Roy DeLand, her parents, four brothers; Howard (Pearl) Lincoln, Clifford (Ruth) Lincoln, Earl (Dorothy) Lincoln, Alton (Janie) Lincoln, Four sisters; Pauline (Fred) Gable, Phyliss (Russell) Johnson, Janette (Leonard) Edwards, Elaine (Jim) Bradigan. Two sisters-in-law; Ethel Lincoln and Wilma Lincoln. Granddaughters; Sherry Smith and Stacy Smith, Grandsons; Rodney Smith and Trevor Smith and a great grandson.

She is survived by her four children; Janet Roberts of Mesa, AZ, Betty DeLand of Brocton, NY, Owen Ballew (Melanie) of Erie, PA, and Pam Cleary (Todd) of Buckatunna, MS. Two step daughters; Anne Smith (Bob) of Deland, FL and Carol Wester of Oil City, PA. Seven grandchildren; Jason Roberts (Heather) of Chandler, AZ, Jennifer Rosas (Ray) of Brocton, NY, Mark DeLand (Sarah) of Denver, NC, Kaitlin Hanes (James) of Erie, PA, Justin Cleary (Jaclyn) of Waynesboro, MS, Sarah Cleary (Alex) of Meridian, MS, and Owen Ballew of Erie, PA. Step grandchildren, Sue Anne Smith of Deland, FL, Robbie Smith of FL, Sami Hanson (Chuck) of FL. Seven great grandchildren and several step grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Also, two wonderful, incredibly handsome brothers, Niles Lincoln and Ward Lincoln. Graveside Memorial Service will be held for the Family on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 4 p.m. at the Cherry Creek Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home in Randolph.
