Flora L. Gates

She was born Dec. 30, 1936 in Ponotoc, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Earleen Lindsey and Aaron Hampton. An area resident for most of her life, Mrs. Gates had been employed at Fredonia State for more than 30 years. She was an active member of Friendship Baptist Church in Dunkirk

Survivors include one daughter, Mae Hampton of Buffalo; grandchildren, Nequeva Hampton and Erian Felder; two great grandchildren, Keyaira Williams and Terence Pendergrass; three brothers, Curtis (Mary) Williams, Earnest Lindsey, and Freddie Williams; three sisters, Angela (Wardell) Ford, Eloise Rogers, and Nancy (James) Thompson; three step sisters, Helen McCorner, Annie Williams, and Laura Williams; and two step brothers, Alonzo Williams and Roger Williams.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1 o’clock in Friendship Baptist Church, 18 East Second St., Dunkirk. Pastor Early G. Waller will officiate. Calling hours will be held Monday from noon to 1 p.m., one hour prior to the service in church. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
