Donald K. Bentley Sr.

Donald K. Bentley Sr., 81, of Dunkirk died Friday morning (Sept. 28, 2018) at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo following a brief illness.

He was born April 26, 1937 in Silver Creek, the son of the late Duane and Geneva (Lathrop) Bentley. A lifelong resident of Dunkirk, Mr. Bentley served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962.

Employed for 46 years as a truck driver, Donald had worked for Red Wing, Penske Trucking and several other companies in the area.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene (Newman) Bentley, whom he married April 24, 1965; two sons, Donald (Brenda) Bentley Jr. and Daniel Bentley, both of Dunkirk; three grandchildren, Kyle, Marcus, and Taylor Bentley; one sister, Roberta Rader of Mishawaka, IN; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Penhollow and Joyce Ferry; and one brother, Richard Bentley.

Calling hours will be held today from 4-7:30 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home, where funeral services will follow at 7:30 p.m. Pastor James Bailey will officiate. Full Military Honors will be accorded by the Dunkirk Joint Veterans Council Honor Guard. Private burial will be in Willowbrook Park Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
