Frank J. Napieralski

Frank J. Napieralski, 84, of Dunkirk passed away

Wednesday morning (Nov. 28, 2018) at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk.

He was born July 30, 1934 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Frank and Theresa

(Ellman) Napieralski. A lifelong Dunkirk resident, Frank attended Dunkirk

City Schools and served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. He had been employed as a supervisor at the Ford Motor Company/Buffalo Stamping Plant in

Blasdell, NY. Long known for his love of water, he also served as a active member of the Coast Guard Aux Flotilla 3-2, and was involved in building of

their own rescue boat. Frank also served as Dunkirk City Harbor Master for two years. During his years as harbor master, he was influential in building the first floating rubber tire break wall in the Dunkirk City Harbor, working

closely with the United States Army Corps of Engineers.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Dunkirk Moose Lodge #89, and

a life member of the Dunkirk Yacht Club, were he had served as Vice Commodore.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian (Pesta) Napieralski; one daughter, Carrie Napieralski of Denver, CO; two brothers, George (Jean) Napieralski of Fredonia and Larry (Nancy) Napieralski of Dunkirk; one sister, Patricia (James) Strychalski of Glens Falls, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated Saturday Dec. 1, 2018 at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church. There will be no prior visitation. Flowers gratefully declined. Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
