PERRYSBURG- Douglas M. Wendel, age 59, of North Rd. passed away surrounded by family Friday, January 4, 2018 at the Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility in Gerry, NY.Born March 18, 1959 in Gowanda the son of Karl and Carol (Johnson) Wendel.Doug worked in maintenance for Gowanda Correctional Facility prior to his retirement, his previous state employment included the Gowanda Psychiatric Center, he also worked at True Temper until its closing. Doug enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating, water skiing and the times he spent with Uncle Charlie and the gang at the cabin. Survivors include his mother Carol (Robert) Abell of Cassadaga, a brother Ted (Tracy) Wendel of Perrysburg, a sister Kari Wendel of Mayville, niece Kayla (Uche) Nwoha of Jamestown a great nephew Jayden and a half brother Tim Gasboda of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Doug is also survived by Aunt Jane (late Jim) Gominiak and Uncle Charlie (Connie) Johnson all of Perrysburg along with many cousins.Doug was preceded in death by his father Karl Wendel. Friends may call at the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME 44 Center St. Gowanda from 1:00-3:00pm on SATURDAY, JANUARY 12, 2019 where his funeral will commence at 3PM.If desired, memorials may be made to the Perrysburg Conservation Club PO Box 64 or to the Perrysburg Vol Fire Dept PO Box 260 both of Perrysburg, NY 14129.
