Frances “Fran” (Frament) Polito

Frances “Fran” (Frament) Polito, 68, of Fredonia died Monday afternoon (April 8, 2019) at Hamot Medical Center in Erie, PA. She was born March 12, 1951 in Cohoes, NY, the daughter of the late Phillip and Helen (Omilinowicz) Frament. After graduating from Marylrose Academy in Albany, NY, in 1968, she went on to receive degrees in Biology from SUNY Fredonia in 1972, and Medical Technology from Mercy School of Medical Technology in Buffalo, NY, in 1973. An area resident for most of her life, Fran had been employed by Brooks Memorial Hospital for 40 years, and SUNY Fredonia for 26 years, before retiring in 2014. She was a great friend to many, and attended the Western New York Mac User Group, emeritus functions at SUNY Fredonia, events at the Senior Citizens Center of Dunkirk, and car cruises and shows with her husband in the summers. She also volunteered her time with the Girl Scouts as cookie chairperson for her daughter Jodie’s troop for many years. She was an avid reader, and a talented artist. In addition to attending art and crafts classes, she was a member of the Twilighters Arts and Crafts Club, and over the years created countless beautiful handmade pieces for her family and friends. She also enjoyed decorating Easter eggs in the Ukrainian style, Pysanky. She was a devoted wife and mother. Survivors include her husband, Joel A. Polito, whom she married Sept. 8, 1973; two daughters, Jocelyn Polito (Jacob Boyle) of Raleigh, NC and Jodie Polito (T. John McCune) of Fredonia; one son, Michael Polito (Rob Lorino) of Waltham, MA; brother-in-law, David (Sheryl) Polito of Fredonia; and niece, Karla Polito (Bjarke Fugl) of Newport
