Thomas H. Schibler

Thomas H. Schibler, 85, of Silver Creek, NY passed away Saturday afternoon November 3, 2018 at the Buffalo General Medical Center in Buffalo, NY.

He was born in Buffalo, NY on March 10, 1933 the son of the late Henry J. and Margaret (Henry) Schibler.

On January 31, 1959 he married Angela E. Cuccia at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church in Silver Creek. She preceded him in death on Jan. 2, 2016, after 56 years of marriage.

He is survived by two sons: Thomas A. (Olena) Schibler of Coronado, Ca. and Terrence R. ( Gena) of Nokomis, Fla.; a daughter Suzanne J. (Kevin Walsh) of Ellicottville, NY, grand-sons, Austin Y. Schibler and Trey R. Hughes, grand-daughters, Janis “Alex” Hughes and Erin (Lenny Gould) Hughes; two great grandchildren, Caleb and Adelyn Schibler.

Tom was preceded in death by a son Timothy E. Schibler and three brothers, Edward, Robert and William Schibler.

Tom served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, he retired from Verizon after many years of service in the telephone & communication industry.

He was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church in Silver Creek, the Samuel Cimino VFW Post 6472 Silver Creek and a proud member of the Communication Workers of America union.

He enjoyed fishing with family and friends and was an avid dog lover. Tom was the go-to-guy in the neighborhood, fondly remembered as a great neighbor.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday May 18,2019 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church 165 Central Ave. Silver Creek at 1 p.m.
