Samuel A. Sasso

Samuel A. Sasso of Fredonia, NY died peacefully in his home, on June 5, 2019, following a long battle with cancer. He was born on September 5, 1939 in Dunkirk, NY to the late

Joseph and Concetta Sasso.

After graduating from Cardinal Mindszenty High School in 1957, Sam joined the USMC. He made a career in the military, spending 3 years in Japan, 3 years in London, and various other locations. In 1978, Sam retired as a Master Sergeant in Overland, Kansas. He then enrolled in butcher School in Toledo, OH and returned to Kansas and worked for the Army

Commissary in Fort Leavenworth, KS, until 1991.

In 1991, Sam moved back to Fredonia to be close to his mother following the death of his father. From 1991 to 2007, he was employed by Al Tech as a Security Guard and a Bus

Driver for both Carrier Coach and CARTS.

Samuel is survived by his children, Samuel A. Sasso, III of Independence, MO, Gina Sasso-Fuller of Overland Park, KS, and Steven M. Sasso of Fort Lauderdale, FL. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Mason, Samantha, and Olivia Fuller, all of KS, his brother, James Sasso of Fredonia, NY as well as two nieces, one nephew, one aunt and many cousins from surrounding areas.

Besides his parents, Sam was preceded in death by many aunts and uncles.

Sam has donated his body to the University of Buffalo and a Memorial Service will be planned at the convenience of the family at a later date. Once returned, his ashes will be

buried with full Military Honors at Fort Levenworth National Cemetery in KS.

A Celebration of Sam’s life will be held on July 6, 2019 from 1:00-5:00 PM at the Kosciuszko Club, 252 Nevins Street, Dunkirk, NY.
