William J. Collins

William J. “Irish Billy” Collins, passed away on August 12, 2018, at the age of 84.

Bill was born in Buffalo, NY on September 2, 1933.

He was predeceased by his wife and love of his life, Janet B. (Morrison) Collins in 2010.

Bill was a very colorful character, well known around western New York as a golden gloves boxer, the 1953 156 lb. National AAU boxing champion from Springville, NY, a title he was very proud of.

Bill taught and mentored several young boxers in the area. Bill and Janet were well known in several communities as the owners of the Arcade Delicatessen, The Family Diner in Fredonia, Up Your Attic in Fredonia, and Jan’s in Jamestown NY. Bill was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War. He generously donated his body to the UB Medical school for research.

Bill is survived by his daughter Beth (Robert) Manners, Chappaqua, NY, and their children Daniel (Bonnie), Aaron and Sarah, and his daughter Laurie Lowndes, Martinez, GA, and her children Austin and Hannah.
