Lino Salgado

Lino Salgado, 63, of Dunkirk died Wednesday afternoon (July 24, 2019) at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunkirk.

He was born Nov. 6, 1955 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Julio L. and Eduviges (Fuentes) Salgado. Lino was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, Class of 1974. He had been employed as a bilingual family advocate for the Dunkirk Public School System.

An avid Bills fan, he enjoyed bowling, baseball, and playing billiards. Lino was a member of the Christian Worship Center in Fredonia, and also the Fredonia Beaver Club, Columbus Club, and Puerto Rican Social Club. He was the cohost of the Spanish Hour alongside his father at WBUZ and WDOE.

Survivors include two daughters, Marilina Salgado and Genaida L. Salgado, both of Dunkirk; four grandchildren, Alysha V. Wilson, Edward T. Wilson, Mercedes A. Brent, and Reginald L. Brent; one great granddaughter, Rayah A. Quilles; two brothers, Jaime D. (Laurie) Galarza of Dunkirk and Julio Jr. (Christina) Salgado of Orlando, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Aida T. Salgado-Leader.

Calling hours will be held Monday from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the Christian Worship Center, 101 Eagle Street, Fredonia where a funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday. Pastor Erika Lopez will officiate. Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
