Patricia Ann Fries

Patricia Ann Fries passed away Thursday, July 18, 2019 at 94 years old following a courageous battle with COPD at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunkirk, New York.

Pat was a sister to Richard (Nancy) Stone of New Jersey and mother to Janis Fausset of Colorado and Judy (John) Metzger of Massachusetts. She greatly enjoyed hergrandchildren:

Brian Metzger, Patricia Metzger, Shen and Steven Fausset. She was also blessed with four great grandchildren: Maxwell, Paige Shen, Kayla and Quinn Fausset. Pat was the daughter of the late Arnold and Ruth (Templeton) Stone and loving wife of the late Harry John Fries.

Pat was a graduate of Kenmore High School and Syracuse University (Class of ’46). She taught at West Seneca Central School for two years and then family services at Kenmore Community Service. Pat moved with Harry to Hanford Bay in 1957 where she became a sophomore English teacher at Silver Creek Central School until retiring in 1983.

Pat loved teaching and is remembered for “clicking down the hall in her high heels” and teaching with enthusiasm and creativity. Pat also loved living on Lake Erie and had wonderful, caring Hanford Bay friends and neighbors. She enjoyed family reunions and sharing her lakefront home with so many others. She was active in the Hanford Bay Community Club and she golfed for many years at Tri County Country Club. She enjoyed skiing in the winter and holiday celebrations.

In her retirement she volunteered at the Silver Creek Food Pantry, Lakeshore Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, Friends of Anderson-Lee Library, Ruth Remsen Used Clothing Center and First United Church. She later moved to Fredonia Place and is fondly remembered for her happy spirit, sense of humor and wit. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at

the Harvest Chapel Free Methodist Church, 39 Matteson Street, Fredonia, N.Y. on Thursday, July 25 at 4 p.m. where a reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers please donate to Anderson-Lee Library, 43 Main Street, Silver Creek, New York 14136. On-line condolences may be made at larsontimkofuneralhome.com. Arrangements by David J.
