Guy J. Patton

Guy J. Patton, 98, formerly of Silver Creek, passed away August 1, 2019 in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was born February 5, 1921 in Fredonia, N.Y., the son of Nicholas and Petrina (Castilone) Pantano.

Guy was raised in Fredonia and after graduation from Fredonia High went to work at Damon Electric Co. On April 21, 1945 in St. Anthony’s Church in Fredonia, he married Cordelia “Corky” Valone. She passed away January 12, 2018. The couple enjoyed 73 years of marriage. In 1945 Guy and Corky moved to Silver Creek and opened their first appliance store. In 1958 they opened their branch store in the Russo Building in Fredonia. In the early 70’s they built Patton’s Super Appliance and Lighting Center on Bennett Road in Fredonia.

After retiring in 1981, they spent winters in Boca Raton, Fl. enjoying their new home, the warm weather and playing golf. In the summer months they returned to Silver Creek and joined Tri-County Golf Club. Guy also spent many hours tending to his impeccable vegetable garden and following the New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills. Guy and Corky were members of Mt. Carmel Church in Silver Creek where Guy served as an usher for many years.

He is survived by two daughters: Patricia Patton of Fredonia and Karen (Stuart) Carson of Scottsdale, Az.; grandchildren: Devin McLaggan of Virginia Beach, Va. and Adam McDaniels of Forestville, N.Y.; great-grandchildren: Jenna, Amber, and Andrew of Virginia Beach, Va. Also survived by several nieces and nephews and his, brother-in-law Donald Valone of Fredonia, N.Y.

Besides his parents and wife, Guy is predeceased by: his sister, Jennie Ciminello; brothers Russell and Horace Pantano and half-sister Jenny DiCara.

Visitation hours are Monday from 6-8 pm at the LARSON-TIMKO Funeral Home, 20 Central Avenue, Fredonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 135 Central Avenue, Silver Creek, N.Y., Tuesday at 10 a.m. (Please Assemble at Church)
