Joan E. Miller

Joan E. Miller, 91, of Fredonia passed away peacefully on Monday morning (August 12, 2019) at the Chautauqua County Home.

She was born at the Father Baker Hospital in Buffalo, NY on February 28, 1928, the daughter of the late John and Stacia (Koslow) Johnson. Joan was a graduate of Dunkirk High School. She married James A. Miller in 1948, with whom she raised a loving family.

Joan was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and St. Anthony’s parishes. She was a dedicated mother and homemaker who enjoyed music, reading, crocheting, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a devout fan of Keanu Reeves.

Joan is survived by eight children. Six sons: Robert (Jacquie) of St. John’s, FL, John (Martha) of Panama, NY, William (Patty), Michael (Shari), and Richard all of Dunkirk, NY, and two daughters: Mary Jakubowski of Dunkirk and Patricia (Joseph) Pencek of Forestville, NY. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and several cousins.

In addition to her parents, Joan is now spiritually reunited with her husband, James A., her son, James J., her sister, Ester Diamond, her grand-daughter, Laura, her great-granddaughter, Alyanna, and her faithful dog, Mitzi.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 23, 2019 at 11:30 A.M. at Harvest Chapel Free Methodist Church, 39 Matteson Street, Fredonia, NY. Arrangements are made by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. There will be no visitation.
