Patricia A. Pickell

Patricia A. Pickell, 72, of Fredonia went home to be with her Lord on Monday, August 12, 2019 at the Chautauqua County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunkirk, following a brief illness.

She was born March 8, 1947 in Dunkirk, the daughter of the late Dominick and Frances (Pennica) Pantano. A graduate of Fredonia High School, Class of 1965, Patricia had been employed at Famous Hair in Dunkirk. She was a member of Fredonia Family Church.

Patricia began a career after high school as a keypunch operator at Alleghany Ludlum Steel Corp. in Dunkirk. In 1971, Patricia moved to Denver, Colorado and worked at MasterCard as a Computer Operator for several years. In 2001, she decided on a career change and went on to become a hairstylist for the next 18 years.

Patricia was a committed follower of Christ with a Catholic background. It was in her adulthood that she made a life changing personal commitment to serve Jesus as her Lord and Savior. In 2008, Patricia became a faithful member of Family Church of Fredonia under Pastors Michael and Nancy Lokietek. She served as a greeter, hospitality worker, bookstore cashier and cleaner. Patricia was always ready to give a warm welcome to anyone who entered the church. She enjoyed attending special guest services in Fredonia, as well as the other Family Churches around the region.

Patricia enjoyed serving as a volunteer election poll worker during election times. She loved gardening, dancing, reading, traveling, crafting, camping, and family gatherings.

Survivors include one sister, Donna Pantano Clifton of Fredonia; two nieces, Curan (Michael) Waller of Dunkirk and Erin (Jesse) Veldhuizen of Bixby, OK; one nephew, Brandon Grabias of Dunkirk; and two great nieces, Victoria McQuiggan and Gianna Grabias.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019 at 11 a.m. in Family Church, 19 Church Street, Fredonia, NY. Pastor Michael Lokietek will officiate. There will be no prior visitation. Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
