FREDONIA: Richard C. Holland, Sr., 92, a resident of Fredonia Place, Howard Street, Fredonia, died Saturday, September 14th, 2019 at his residence, following a short illness.

He was born in Neptune, NJ on June 20, 1927, the son of the late William and Violet M. (Hogan) Holland. Mr. Holland served in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman during WW II.

He worked as a Bus Driver for Forestville Central School. Mr. Holland also worked for New York State as a Mental Hygiene Therapist Aide at the former Gowanda Psychiatric Center and was a Town of Villenova Justice of the Peace from 1985-1989. He attended Harvest Chapel Free Methodist Church, Fredonia, was a member of J. Carter Knapp American Legion Post #953, Forestville and the Sheridan VFW Memorial Post #6390. Mr. Holland enjoyed hunting and camping.

Survivors include eight children Violet (Paul) Nail, of Quitman, GA; Richard (Kyong) Holland, Jr., of Warrenton, VA; William (Connie) Holland, of Las Vegas, NV; Helena (Charles) Luce, of Forestville; Debbie Spicola, of Dunkirk; Diana Cooper, of Tonawanda; Joseph (Kathleen) Holland, of Fredonia; Kathleen (William) Raymond, of Fredonia; three brothers Bernard (Patricia) Holland, Charles (Faith) Holland, Robert Holland and three sisters, Mary Milam, Ella Skinner, and Esther Horton. Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren, several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces & nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Anna (Ozarczuk) Holland, whom he married June 28, 1947 in Frankfurt, Germany and who died September 22, 2010, a daughter Rosemary Mitchell, five brothers Arthur, Jack, David, William and Howard Holland and four sisters Elenor Bidwell, Helen McDonald, Edith Martinowicz and Evelyn Campbell.

Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Wednesday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. from where Funeral Services will be held at 1 o’clock. Interment will follow in Forestville Cemetery, where Graveside Military Services will be conducted by members of J. Carter Knapp American Legion Post #953, Forestville.
