Howard Crowell

Born Mar. 19, 1934 in Silver Creek a son of the late Roy and Frances Fox Crowell. He was a 1953 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School.

Howard was employed in maintenance for Green Thumb at the D.O.T. in Mayville until November of 2019. He previously was employed as a Senior Mechanic for Chautauqua County Landfill for over 15 years retiring in 1999 and prior to that at Hope Windows.

He was a Red Cross Volunteer, Member of the Stockton Volunteer Fire Department, served on the Stockton Town Assessment Review Board, enjoyed recreational vehicles, football and was an Oregon Ducks and Buffalo Bills fan.

Husband of 66 years to Shirley Snyder Crowell who he married Aug. 15, 1953; father of, Mark Crowell of Asheville, NC, Lynn (Ed) Ryan of Fredonia, John (Sandy) Crowell of Gualala, CA, Carol (Jeff) Calhoun of Williamsville and Martha (Tracy) Butcher of Gerry; grandfather of, Robbie, Conor and Meredith Crowell, Jessica (Daniel Austic) Ryan, Kaitlin (Joel) Dibble, Emily, Kelly and Matthew Butcher, Julianna and Evan Calhoun; great-grandfather of 5. Howard was preceded in death by 6 siblings. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

Funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday in Harvest Chapel Free Methodist Church, 39 Matteson St., Fredonia. Private burial in Union Cemetery, Centralia Corners.

Flowers gratefully declined. Memorials suggested to: Stockton VFD or American Cancer Society.
