FORESTVILLE: Patricia J. Slawson, 86, of Forestville, died Monday, February 24th, 2020. She was born in the Town of Arkwright, on June 17, 1933, the daughter of the late Peter and Virginia (Tylock) Brooks.

She worked as a Cafeteria Cashier for Fredonia Central School, for 3 years. Mrs. Slawson also was very involved with the former Chadakoin Farms, Forestville, conducting tours for many school students, hosting over 1000 students in a season. She was a Hairdresser and a Waitress, having worked for the former David’s Country Manor and the former Vineyard Restaurant. Mrs. Slawson was a former member of the J. Carter Knapp American Legion Post #953, Forestville, Ladies Auxiliary.

She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, as her family was her proudest accomplishment. Mrs. Slawson loved to dance the polka, the color pink and watch hummingbirds on her feeders. She enjoyed baking cookies with her grandchildren. Mrs. Slawson also enjoyed a glass of wine while surrounded by her family, laughing & playing games. She was our best friend, our strength, our joy and filled our lives with love and will be deeply missed forever by her children & grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Richard N. Slawson of Forestville, whom she married on August 8, 1987, in the Town of Hanover, four daughters, Kim Ryon, of Naples, FL; Brenda (Donald) Burgun, of Westfield; Pam (William) Hanson, Jr., of Naples, FL; Diane Polisoto, of Southern Pines, NC; a son, Scott (Virginia) Kawski, of Harborcreek, PA; two step daughters, Bethany (Doug) DeJoe, of Gig Harbor, WA; Melinda (Kim) Slawson, of Ithaca; a step son, Dana (Sharmila) Slawson, of Los Angeles, CA; a sister, Joyce Josephson, of Cassadaga, three brothers, Gordon (Mary) Brooks and Donald (Dorothy) Brooks, both of Spring, TX; and Jim (Sally) Brooks, of Jamestown. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her son-in-law Thomas Ryon, two sisters Esther Brooks and Betty Johnson, three brothers Al, Richard and Robert Brooks and a grandson Nathan Polisoto.

Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Saturday afternoon from 3-5 PM, from where Funeral Services will be held at 5 o’clock with Rev. James D. Hankey, pastor of the Forestville United Methodist Church, officiating.
