Theodore J. Welch

Theodore J. Welch, 89, of Irving, NY passed away Saturday morning March 21, 2020 at his residence.

He was born in Silver Creek, NY on August 31, 1930, the son of the late Theodore and Sylvia (Woods) Welch.

Ted graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1948. After high school, he served in the United States Navy onthe U.S.S. Salem and was honorably discharged on January 11, 1950.

Ted’s career included employment with the Nickel Plate Railroad, Marine Midland Bank, and Chautauqua County. He was also co-owner of Barone Liquor Store in Silver Creek for many years.

Ted was active in local politics and served as Mayor and Trustee of the Village of Silver Creek for many years. He was an accomplished woodworker and carpenter. He also belonged to the Silver Lodge #757 F.& A.M. in Silver Creek.

He is survived by his beloved family including two daughters, Deborah (Ernest) Kimball of Sebring, FL. and Pamela Hayden of Lakeland, FL., one son, Theodore (Nancy) Welch of Glenwood, NY; five granddaughters, Lauren (Michael) Fox, Alison (Scott) Harr, Kara (Vincent) Trippi, Jennifer (Daniel) Stark, and Emilie Welch; six great grandchildren, Hayden, Landon, Brenna, Avery, Ryan, and Drew; also two nephews, Thomas (Kathy) Welch and Dennis (Lisa) Welch.

Besides his parents, Ted was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Welch, sister-in-law, Doris Welch, and his life partner, Irene.

A Celebration of Ted’s life will take place at a later date.
