Herman F. Bouquin

Herman was born June 26, 1931, at home in Laona, N.Y., the son of the late Frank and Ethel Schultz Bouquin.

He attended Fredonia Schools and graduated from Fredonia High School, where he participated in track and basketball. He was a U.S. Navy veteran in the Korean era, serving in both the Atlantic and Mediterranean. On Aug. 29, 1956, he married the former Sylvia Knollman. The couple would have celebrated 64 years of marriage this August. He enjoyed carpentry, woodworking and gardening. He worked as a mechanic at Kraft Foods and Cliffstar from where he retired.

Herman is survived by his wife, Sylvia; three children: Steve (Mary) Bouquin of Fredonia, Deborah Joan Bouquin Reading (Ricky), of Sherman, N.Y., and Catherine Mary Karalus (David Wallen) of Fredonia, N.Y.; grandchildren: Matthew and Lucas Bouquin, Morgan, Cody, Carley Reading, Sarah Karalus, Kristin Stalter and Sylvia Karalus; great-grandchildren: Madeline and Willow Reading, Raiden and Kiya Stalter; and his brother, George (late Betty) Bouquin.

No prior visitation. A memorial service will be at a later date. The family would like to recognize and give thanks to Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care for their kindness and care given to Herman and his family.
