Lucy A. DeMarco Peterson

Lucy A. DeMarco Peterson, 91, of Cheektowaga, N.Y., passed away on May 30, 2020. after a brief illness. She was born Dec. 1, 1928, to the late Josephine and Louis DeMarco.

She was married to the late Robert Peterson, who passed away in July 2011. She retired from Verizon Telephone Co. after 25 years of service.

She loved to cook and bake. She was the best Italian cook ever. Her specialty was her cuccidatis (Italian fig cookies). She made them for family occasions, Christmas and just to give them away that was her pleasure. Ask any of her nieces and nephews.

Lucy was a loving mother, nana and aunt and is survived by two daughters: Wendy (Fred) Barone of Fredonia, a grandson, Craig (Jackie) Barone of Charlotte, N.C. and two great- grandchildren: Jackson and Reese Barone. Also a daughter, Debbie (Dave) Wasmund of Farnham, N.Y. and three grandchildren: Kristen, Jessica and Charles and their children. She has one surviving sister, Lena Ralabate of Cheektowaga, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers: Paul, James and John DeMarco; and sisters: Josephine Forness, Rosie Berns and Louisa DeMarco.

Private viewing only for family from 9-10 a.m., at Amigone Funeral Home, 569 Cleveland Drive, Cheektowaga, N.Y., on Thursday, June 4, 2020. Followed by Mass at Infant of Prague Church and interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, Mausoleum.
