Anne Abels Chambers

Anne was born and raised in Buffalo and was a graduate of Nardin Academy, where she excelled both academically as well as athletically. She married her childhood sweetheart, Arthur Chambers, in 1942. Together they raised 12 children: Patricia, Judith, Andrew, William, Jane, Robert, Anne, Molly (favorite), Sarah, Bridget, Melissa and Charles. She was a beloved grammy and great-grammy to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren from coast to coast.

Anne was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mayville and volunteered for many local organizations.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to St. Mary’s respite and visitation ministries for their very generous care of our mother. We also want to extend our deepest appreciation to the Mayville EMT team, who assisted her with grace and respect, on many occasions.

Anne will be remembered for her generous spirit, her love of classic Broadway songs, her enjoyment of good chocolate and her deep faith which guided her through life’s joys and trials. She had a remarkably competitive nature and continued to play games daily to the end, especially Words With Friends, which helped to keep her stimulated and happy.

A private memorial mass will be held in celebration of her life. We are remembering our dear mother with donations to the Mayville Fire Department and the Mayville Food Pantry.
