Charles F. McGarvey

MONSEY, N.Y. — Charles F. McGarvey, 77, of Monsey, N.Y., passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2020, at Engelwood Health, in Engelwood, N.J.

He was born in Bronx, N.Y., on July 28, 1943, the son of the late George F and Mary E. (McCurdy) McGarvey.

Mr. McGarvey worked as a service technician for XEROX in Manhattan, N.Y., for 30 years. He was a longtime friend of Bill W., a Ham operator “N2HIG”, a member of the Rockland County Emergency Management Team and the Rockland County Historical Society. Mr. McGarvey was an avid computer pioneer and he loved traveling to Germany to visit his family.

Survivors include a daughter, Christine (Sean) Gibson of Forestville; two sons: Michael McGarvey of Straubing, Germany and James McGarvey of Munich, Germany; a sister, Suzanne McGarvey of Bronx, N.Y.; and a brother, Robert (Ann) McGarvey of Holbrook, N.Y. Also surviving are several grand- children and several great- grandchildren; and his beloved cats: Daisy and Shayna.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving companion, Eleanor Jacobson of Monsey, N.Y.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Time and place to be announced.
