Patricia L. Salzler

Patricia L. Salzler, 87, died on Monday, September 28, 2020, surrounded by her loving family at Brooks Memorial Hospital.

Pat was born in Teaneck, N.J., on July 2, 1933, to Griffith L. Pritchard and Helen Pritchard and was the second of three children. Patricia went to 13 different schools before she graduated, which is probably why she could make friends with anyone she met. After graduating high school, Pat married and eventually moved to Springville, N.Y., where she worked as a dental assistant. Later in life, Pat moved to Fredonia, N.Y., where she was an active member of Fredonia First United Methodist Church, and substitute taught in the Forestville Central School District, where her granddaughters attended. Pat’s joyful spirit, kind heart and love for life will never be forgotten.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Barbara Priest (nee. Pritchard); brother, William Pritchard; and sons: William Rood and Lawrence W. Rood.

Pat is survived by her son, Michael (Karry) Rood; daughter, Sandra (Kerry) Askin: grandchildren: Tracy Zang, Joshua Thurber, Thomas Thurber and Brandy (Jacob) Peterson, Meg (Tyler) Phillips Kruse, and Hannah Phillip; as well as many beloved nieces, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

Due to COVID-19, a private service for friends and family will be held at Fredonia First United Methodist Church,

Pat’s family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at the WCA Home Assisted Living Facility in Fredonia, N.Y., where she spent her last years, as well as the nursing staff at Brooks Memorial Hospital for the loving care she received.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests you direct donations to the WCA Home Assisted Living Facility, in Fredonia, N,Y.
