W. Dale Barmore

It’s with our deepest sor-row that we announce the passing of W. Dale Bar-more, 84, of Gerry, on Sun-day, Oct. 4, 2020, at UPMC Chautauqua.

Born July 10, 1936, in Jamestown, a son of the late H. Everett and Janet J. Dart Barmore. He was a 1954 graduate of Cassadaga Val-ley Central School.

Dale was a veteran of the U.S Army from 1959-61.

In earlier years, he was employed with the Town of Gerry and then was em-ployed with the Operating Engineer Local 17 for 40 years, retiring in 2006.

He was a member of the Gerry Volunteer Fire Department for 50 years, Gerry Grange for 65 years, Henry Mosher American Legion Post 638, Ellington Rod and Gun Club, volun-teered at the Gerry Hill Cemetery and served on the Town of Gerry Board of Assessment.

Dale enjoyed running equipment, prior to his fa-thers death, helping him on the farm with the livestock and making maple syrup and presently would lend a hand to his son, Randy on his farm. Later in life, he enjoyed meeting with his union friends for breakfast and the afternoon guys for coffee at the Country Fair, Gerry.

Loving husband of 58 years to Ellen E. Stevens Barmore, whom he married May 10, 1962; devoted fa-ther of Lanny (Rindy) Bar-more of Gerry, Stephanie (Darryl Stohl) Barmore of Jamestown and Randall (Tiffany) Barmore of Ger-ry; grandfather of Jamie, Kristy, Erik and Tyler; great-grandfather of six; brother of the late Ronald E. (late Alice) Barmore and Valerie C. (late Winston) Bartholomew. Also sur-vived by nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday in Jordan Funeral Home, Sin-clairville. Due to NYS CO-VID restrictions, masks and social distancing will be ob-served. Private burial in Gerry Hill Cemetery.
