Charles J. Ross Sr.

Born in Salamanca, N.Y. on Aug. 24,1941, to Louis and Elsie Ross, he is the brother-in-law of Deborah (George) Neher and is brother to the the deceased Joann (James) Paoletto, Ila Pierce and three half-siblings, Betty Sietz, Marie Schwab, and William Ross.

He has two children, Charles J. Ross Jr. and the recently deceased Carol Ann Ross, and is survived by four grandchildren, Nicole Ross, Michael Embs, Thomas Embs, and Adelade Hall.

His career started by serving his country for 20 years in the United States Army. Along with serving around the world, he did two tours in Vietnam during the war. After the Army, Charles worked 20 years for the New York Department of Corrections. Upon retirement, he became very active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars at the Gowanda James J. Cruden Post 5007 and served there as Quarter Master.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, Feb. 17 from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m, at Mentley Funeral Home, on 105 E. Main St., Gowanda, N.Y. A private service will be held the following day, Feb. 18, for family only.
