Daniel Jean Carr

Daniel Jean Carr

Daniel Jean Carr, 74, of Brocton, NY died unexpectedly on March 15, 2021 in Arkwright, NY.

“Big” Dan was born on Oct. 27, 1946, in Buffalo, N.Y. to the late Walter and Jean (Nicholson) Carr.

Dan was a strong, independent person who worked extremely hard throughout his life. After graduating high school, he installed security systems in Buffalo, and then began his career building cable TV systems as a lineman. He specialized in splicing and contracted in several states before settling in Fredonia, N.Y, as manager for KWR Cable Systems, which later became Time-Warner Cable. He then changed careers and drove the country. After retiring from LTL trucking, Dan was soon asked to work transportation at the local ice cream factory, where he worked up to his passing.

Dan was a voracious reader and counted himself as one of the faithful. He was a preacher at heart and loved to be on the golf course with his family. He was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Robin, and a true friend to those lucky to have him as one.

Dan is survived by his wife, Robin; his children: Gretchen (Scott) Moore of Nixa, Mo., Julianne (Rick) Valone of Dunkirk, N.Y., Daniel (Elly) Carr of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Leah Dolce of Springfield, Mo; stepchildren: Toni (Andrew) Bove of New York, N.Y., Michael Dolce of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Adam (Irene) Dolce of Claremont, Calif.; and grandchildren: Sarah and Isaac Moore of Nixa, Mo., Anna Valone of Dunkirk, N.Y., and Nolan Carr of Pittsburgh, Pa. Dan is also survived by his siblings: Lawrence (Maxine) Carr of Denver, Colo., David (Laurie) Carr of Cheektowaga, N.Y., Gregory (Peg) Carr of Annapolis, Md., Deborah Carr of Colorado Springs, Colo., Laurie (Michael) Turton of Buffalo, N.Y., and Denise Carr of West Seneca, N.Y.

Dan was preceded in death by his sister, Judith Kolasny of Chicago, Ill.

Dan loved many and many loved Dan. A celebration of life hosted by the family will be held Aug. 7, 2021, at Point Gratiot, Dunkirk, NY. To attend, please email tonidolce@ gmail.com for details.
